Psychiatrists employed by the National Psychosis Unit feature on front page of The Telegraph published on the 15th February 2015.

The headline “Super strong cannabis responsible for quarter of new psychosis cases” is based upon a six year study by a group of researchers including psychiatrists employed by the National Psychosis Unit. The study concluded that “one in four new cases of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia could be the direct result of smoking extra-strong varieties of cannabis”.

The findings reopen the debate about the classification of cannabis as an illegal drug, with some supporters of liberalisation now considering tougher restrictions on some varieties.

The study, by researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London and the National Psychosis Unit, is published in the journal Lancet Psychiatry (click link to access the paper).
