South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to be finalists at the Autism Professionals Awards 2017.
The Autism Professionals Awards have been created to recognise and reward services and professionals who are leading the way in innovative autism practice and making a real difference to the lives of autistic people in the UK.
Hosted by The National Autistic Society, the awards seek to acknowledge the outstanding contributions and achievements of individuals, teams and organisations who have demonstrated excellence, dedication and commitment to improving the lives of autistic people.
SLaM’s national neurodevelopment service for adults are thrilled have been selected as a finalist for the ‘Outstanding Health Services’ Award. The service is an outpatient team based at the Maudsley Hospital and forms part of SLaM’s services for adults with ASD and/or ADHD. The outpatient clinic covers Autism Spectrum Conditions and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as well as various genetic conditions, and is staffed by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, psychologists, neurodevelopmental specialists, managers and administrators. The team dedicates itself to providing gold-standard and patient-centred diagnostic assessments at a national level; with bespoke recommendations for each patient with options to be followed up locally or in the national service if available.
The clinic maintains strong links with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) and a genetics team at Guy’s Hospital London to make sure the latest research can inform their clinical work and directly help improve people’s lives. They also provide training and advice to other services and professionals in order to make sure care provided for those with Autism Spectrum Conditions is of the highest quality possible.
